This resolution provides for the establishment of the compensation olan for Middle Manage-
ment employees.

DISCUSSION
The classifications listed on Attachment "A" are recommended for a 7.5% salary increase
effective July 10, 1981, with the following exceptions:
Battalion Chief and Fire Marshal are recommended for an 8% salary increase.
In addition, all t1iddle Managers will receive $1,300 to be utilized in the cafeteria
style benefit program.
Currently, all Middle Managers, with the exception of the Battalion Chiefs and Fire Marshal,
receive one half dependents' health coverage as a portion of their total compensation.
The Battalion Chiefs and Fire Marshal currently receive full dependents' coverage as a
portion of their total compensation. Under the cafeteria style benefit program, all
Middle Managers potentially can receive 100% dependents' coverage. Because the Battalion
Chief and Fire Marshal already receive full dependents. coverage, their salary can be
increased an additional .5% and still remain within the Council guidelines.
FISCAL IMPACT

The total cost of the compensation package is estimated at $120,000. This meets the
wage guidelines set by the City Council.
