Resolution loti?.!;. of Intention to order maintenance of landscaping and lighting within the Chula Vista Town Centre No. 1 Street Lighting and Landscape Ma intenance District SUBMITTED BY: City Engineer rtV (4/5ths Vote:Yes_NOLJ On May 19, City Council ordered the preparation of a report for the Town Centre No. 1 Street Lighting and Landscaping District as the first phase in the continuation of the current landscaping and lighting district. The above resolutions approve this report and establish June 16 for the public hearing. It is my RECOMMENDATION: That Council approve the report concerning the spread of assessments and adopt the resolution of intention establishing June 16 as the date of the public hearing. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable. DISCUSSION: The assessments for next year are the same as assessed for the current fiscal year. Because the second phase of the Town Centre Beautification Project (Third Avenue, "F" to "G") will not be commenced until the second half of the fiscal year, we have not included any maintenance costs from this district for the second phase of the project. That project will have included in it maintenance for the remainder of the fiscal year for landscape establishment. The assessments as presented will generate nearly $15,100 during next fiscal year. This amount will not only cover the cost for che maintenance landscaping and a portion of the street lighting costs, but will also pay back the City and the Redevelopment Agency a portion of the funds that were borrowed to: 1. Help establish the district. 2. Maintain the planting for a period prior to establishment of the district. 3. Develop a reserve to cover the cost during the first six months of the annual period.
