Meeting Date 3/10/81 ITEM TITLE: Ordinance /13" - Amending ~15 .56 .010 of the Municipal Code relating to certificate of occupancy requirements for condominiums C,__"...,.;. ,>_' SUBMITTED BY: Ci ty Attorney {4/5ths Vote: Yes No~} There is a need to clearly spell out the prerequisites to the issuance of certificates of occupancy for units in condominium conversions. RECOMMENDATION: Adopt Ordinance BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: N/A DISCUSSION: The City presently requires a certificate of occupancy for all new structures and specifically sets forth the same requirement for units in any condominium conversion project. . In new structures, the control is very easy since the Gas and Electric Company will not install meters until the Department of Building and Housing authorizes them to do so subsequent to the issuance of a certificate of occupancy. However, in the case of condominium conversions, meters are already in existence and there is no similar controL The representatives of SDG&E indicate that they would be perfectly willing to pull meters and, therefore, the ordinance amendrrent has been proposed to insure that the control does exist.
