RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA
VISTA APPROVING RULE CHANGE: RULE L09, SECTIONS a
AND d, SEPARATION AND REINSTATEMENT - CIVIL SERVICE
RULES
The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby
resolve as follows:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Chula Vista does hereby approve a change to Rule 109,
Sections a and d, of the Civil Service Rules as shown in Exhibit
"A", attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference as if
set forth in full.

1.09 SEPARATION AND REINSTATEMENT
A. RESIGNATION
An employee wishing to leave the Classified City Service in good standing
shall file with the appointing authority a written resignation on the form
prescribed by the Commission, giving at least one (1) week's notice of his
intention to leave the service, unless the said appointing authority consents
to his leaving sooner. The written resignation shall be forwarded to the
Commission forthwith. An employee who leaves the classified service without
so filing a written resignation or giving a week's notice, shall have that
fact entered on his service record and may be denied entrance to fitness
tests in the future.

D. REINSTATEMENT
(Entire Section deleted and replaced by wording below)
1. Reinstatement Lists: Reinstatement lists shall be maintained for
each classification. Such lists shall consist of the names of
persons who have occupied permanent positions in the class and have
been granted reinstatement eligibility by provisions of these rules.
2. Eligibility for Reinstatement: Permanent employees who have vol-
untarily left City service and desire to return to their former
classification~ may request that their names be placed on the
Reinstatement List. Such requests must be made within three years
from the date of leaving City service. Placement on the Reinstate-
ment List will be granted by the Director of Personnel if the person's
last regular or supplementary performance report prior to separation

had an overall rating of standard or above. Eligibility shall
expire 3 years after the date of resignation unless the name is
removed by the Commission sooner in accordance with Rule 1.04 J.4.
3. Use of Reinstatement Lists: When there is a vacancy in a depart-
ment to be filled under Civil Service~ the appointing authority may
request certification from the Reinstatement List. If such a request
is made all names on the list will be certified. If no selection
is made from said list~ the appointing authority then may request
a certification from the eligibility list. Placement upon the
reinstatement list does not guarantee consideration for a position
or reinstatement.
4. Benefits Upon Reinstatement: Upon reinstatement the employee will
receive the same rights and benefits as any new employee. No
credit will be given for the time served prior to separation.
