ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CHl..JLA VISTA AMENDING
CHAPTER 3.41, SECTION 3.41.030, SUBSECTION B OF THE
CHULA VISTA MUNTCfPAL CODE
WHEREAS, the Chula Vista Municipal Code imposes requirements on the types of
identification a person needs to display in order to rent hotel or motel rooms in Chula Vista; and
WHEREAS, Chula Vista hotel proprietors have requested that non-U.S. residents be
permitted to rent rooms with validly issued driver's licenses from their nation of origin; and
WHEREAS, the Chula Vista Municipal Code needs to be amended to reflect this request;
and
WHEREAS, other than the amendment to Subsection B of Section 3.41030, the
remainder of Section 3.41.030 will remain the same.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City OfChu!a Vista does, hereby, ordain
as follows:
B. Satisfactory identitication for legal residents of the United States shall consist of one
of the following: a valid driver's license issued by the transient's statc; a federal or state
government or military identification card; a passport; or any other form of valid
governmental identification on which the transient's photograph appears. For persons
legally residing outside of the United States, valid governmental identification shall
include an official passport, U.S. visa, INS alien registration card _INS border
crossing card. or a valid driver's license issued from the non-U.S. resiclcnt~s nation or
Q.IJ.gill.

Subsection B, be amended to read as follows:

EFFECTIVE DATE.
Tl1is ordinance will take effect and be in force thirty days after final passage.
