We are located at 276 F Street, Chula Vista, CA 91910. We are very worried due to the alarming statistics on how the obesity (over weight) rate has elevated in our children, our youth and our adults. We are not alone herel Recently Michele Obama, First Lady of the United States of America, made a nationwide invitation regarding our responsibility towards our health and that of our families. Being this the main reason of why we are addressing you, so that we might be able to remedy the obesity problem in our community. Recently while visiting the "Friendship Park" we asked the community residents how come they did not go to the park, and their reply was that it was due to the lack of lighting fixtures and security. We observed our own park we realized that this park does not have enough lighting fixtures or illumination during the evening hours, there are no public restrooms, there are no picnic tables, the benches are broken, there are two drinking fountains in need of repair and more drinking fountains are needed. There is litter all around the park, there are no playground equipment so that the children can play and keep them active, and there is no park security so that the families may feel safe and secure to enjoy the park. The parks are totally deserted of families and parents, because they are not able to take their children to have some enjoyment. Furthermore, the park is located in a very centric Chula Vista place, because is right next to the Chula Vista Police Department and the Chula Vista Councilmember office, we should be worried on how to make our park look more attractive and less abandoned. We request your support to continue with our mission to make our community a better place to live and to raise our children. I thank you in advance for listening to the voice of our community.
