HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2010-201RESOLUTION NO. 2010-201 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA ACCEPTING $45,430 FROM THE BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE FOR THE ANTI-DRUG ABUSE ENFORCEMENT TEAM RECOVERY ACT PROGRAM AND APPROPRIATING SAID FUNDS TO THE FISCAL YEAR 2010/2011 AMERICAN RECOVERY AND REINVESTMENT ACT FUND WHEREAS, the Police Department is a sub-recipient of the Anti-Drug Abuse Enforcement Team Recovery Act Program, which is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act; and WHEREAS, the County of San Diego, who is the prime recipient of this grant, has allocated $45,430 to the Police Department because of its participation in the Jurisdictions Unified for Drug/Gang Enforcement (JUDGE) program; and WHEREAS, the JUDGE program is an inter-agency response to the county-wide problem of offenses committed by drug-involved gang members, nazcotics traffickers and offenders, and repeat/serious felony offenders; and WHEREAS, a primary focus of the program is to identify, apprehend and prosecute criminals with strike convictions and narcotics histories; and WHEREAS, the Police Department will use this funding for the personnel costs of the JUDGE program. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby accept $45,430 from the Bureau of Justice Assistance and appropriate said funds to fiscal year 2010/2011 personnel budget of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Fund for the Anti-Drug Abuse Enforcement Team Recovery Act Program.
