The assistance will allow the City to process in a timely fashion, the Sunbow General Development Plan for land lying north of Telegraph Canyon Road and east of I-80S in the vicinity of the Chula Vista Community Hospital. BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable. DISCUSSION: In 1987, the City Council annexed pre-zoned, and approved a precise plan and subdivision map for Phase I of Sunbow. The project consisted of a 108 acre 411fesidential community directly north of the current proposed project and contained 485 dwelling units (then called Rancho Del Sur). The applicant now wishes to proceed with the master planning of the approximately 600-acre remaining parcel. The application was filed on September 28,1988. The Planning Department, in consideration of the position advertised in the L.A. Times and San Diego Union, received 30 applications. Those 30 were screened down to 8 of which 7 indicated an interest in an oral interview. Three finalists were then selected, references checked and a final interview held with the top two applicants. The Planning Director, Public Works Director, Deputy City Manager and an outside planner made up the final sel ecti on board. Mr. Nunes comes hi ghly recommended wi th a mi x of public/private experience and an expertise in working with large scale projects as demonstrated by the 1 i st of experi ence in hi s resume. We feel confi dent he wi 11 do an excell ent job as project manager for the City. The project applicant concurs in our selection of the individual consultant. The applicant will reimburse the City for the full costs of the consultant as well as pay all normal City fees for processing.
