(4/5ths Vote: Yes_No....!.J on July 5, 1988, in Conference Room 5 of the Public Service City Engineer received sealed bids for installation of a traffic intersection of Palomar Street and Second Avenue. SUBMITTED BY: REVIEWED BY: At 2 : 00 p. m. Building, the signal at the Bids were received from three qualified electrical contractors to install the traffic signal. RECOMMENDATION: That Council accept the bids and award the contract to MCR Electrical Contractors, Inc. in the amount of $67,675. BOARDS/COMMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable. DISCUSSION: .BidS were received from three qualified electrical contractors as follows: 1. MCR Electrical Contractors, Inc. - Imperial Beach $ 67,675 2. D&H Perry Electric Co. - Spring Valley 72,200 3. Steiny & Co. - San Diego 102,360 The low bid by MCR Electrical Contractors, Inc. was below the engineer's estimate of $75,680 by $8,005 or 10.5 percent. We have reviewed the low bid and bel ieve it to be satisfactory and recommend awarding the contract to t~CR Electrical Contractors, Inc. FINANCIAL STATEMENT: 1.
