ITEM TITLE: Resolution /O b/,d- Ordering the canvass of the General Municipal Election
to be held on Tuesday, April 8, 1980 to be made by
the City Clerk

The regular general municipal election will be held on April 8, 1980 to fill Council
Seats Nos.l and 2, three seats on the Board of Education for the Chula Vista Elementary
School District, and one Proposition.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the resolution.
BOARD AND COI~IMISSIONS RECOMMENDATION:
Not applicable.
DISCUSSION: Section 22932.5 of the Elections Code states that the governing body
may, by resolution, order the canvass of the election to be made by the City Clerk
prior to the first Tuesday after the election. On April 15 (if there is no run-off
election), the City Council will declare the persons having the majority number of
votes to be elected. In the case of the Board of Education, it will be those persons
having the highest number of votes. The City Clerk will then administer the Oath of
Office to the newly-elected officials.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: The election costs are not known at this time.
