HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2010-191RESOLUTION NO. 2010-191 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA ACCEPTING BIDS, AWARDING CONTRACT FOR THE "PAVEMENT REHABILITATION PROGRAM (PROP 1B), PHASE I (STL357)" PROJECT TO FRANK AND SON PAVING, INC. IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,387,350.20 AND AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS TO EXPEND ALL AVAILABLE FUNDS IN THE PROJECT WHEREAS, City staff prepazed specifications for the "Pavement Rehabilitation Program (Prop l B), Phase I (STL357)" and advertised the project on May 28, 2010; and WHEREAS, on June 23, 2010, the Director of Public Works Engineering received nine (9) sealed bids for the project as follows: CONTRACTOR SUBMITTAL RESULTS TOTAL SUBMITTED 1 Frank & Son Paving, Inc. - All requirements met $1,387,350.20 Chula Vista, CA 2 TC Construction Co. - All requirements met $1,437,792.30 Santee, CA 3 PAL General Eng. Inc. -San All requirements met $1,447,769.55 Diego, CA 4 Windsor Fuel Co. - Missing Letter of Authorizing $1,472,242.40 Pittsburg, CA Capacity 5 International Surfacing Missing Disclosure Statement $1,486,550.20 System, Sacramento, CA 6 Pavement Coatings-Mira All requirements met $1,865,478.00 Loma, CA 7 Intermountain Slurry Seal, All requirements met $1,876,355.90 Sacramento, CA 8 Daley Corp, San Diego, CA All requirements met $1,898,946.65 9 Copp Contracting Inc - All requirements met $1,996,721.25 Buena Pazk, CA WHEREAS, the bid submitted by Frank & Son Paving, Inc. is below the Engineer's estimate of $1,489,261.95 by $101,911.75 (6.84%); and Resolution No. 2010-191 Page 2 WHEREAS, the contractor has performed satisfactorily on previous City of Chula Vista contracts and is currently under contract to perform another pavement rehabilitation project to start in August 2010. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby accept bids and awazd contract for the "Pavement Rehabilitation Program (Prop 1B), Phase I (STL357)" project to Frank & Son Paving, Inc. in the amount of $1,387,350.20. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby authorize the Director of Public Works to spend all available contingency funds, as necessary, in order to complete all work required in accordance with City standards and to account for increases or decreases in unit quantities.
