Report on Chula Vista Band Review Request

Mr. Gerald P. May, Jr., President of the Chula Vista Band Review, has requested authoriza-
tion to stage the second annual Chula Vista Band Review on November 22, 1980; and to use
the following City equipment and services;
Traffic Control Personnel
Barricades
Flat Bed Trailer
RECOMMENDATION: That Council authorize the Chula Vista Band Review Committee to stage the
Band Review subject to staff conditions, and waive indirect City costs
estimated at $100.
BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: N.A.
DISCUSSION:
The proposed Band Review will be staged in an area roughly bounded by Broadway on the west;
ilL II Street on the south; Fourth Avenue on the east; and "K" Street on the north, as depicted
in the drawing which is included as an exhibit. This is the same route that was jointly
developed last year by City staff and the Band Review Committee. The route proved to be
satisfactory to everyone concerned, and resulted in a very successful Band Review.
The Band Review Committee has requested waiver of all fees and other costs incurred by the
City in providing personnel and equipment necessary to hold the review. I believe the basic
policy applied to similar events should be followed and this is reflected in the recommenda-
tion. The City Council did waive all fees and City incurred expense for last year's band
review.
Following are the estimated costs for the requested City services and equipment:
Public Works labor (delivery and pick-up of barricades) $370
Equipment (delivery trucks) 100
Police Reserves 70
Barricade rental 70
Total $6TO
The Public Works Divisionis labor, Police Reserves and barricade rental are all unbudgeted
direct cost items.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approximately $100 indirect City cost associated with equipment usage.
