ITEM TITLE: Resolution /()~5..3 Establishing dates for property owners to be ready to receive underground service and removal of poles and overhead facilities within Underground Utility District No. 112 on Bonita Road from Willow Street to Otay La kes Road rv..~/ SUBt~ITTED BY: City Engineertr (4/5ths Vote: Yes_No~) The City Council on February 12, 1980, by Resolution 9958 established an underground utility district on Bonita Road from Willow Street to Otay Lakes Road. In accordance with Section 15.32.150 of the Chula Vista Municipal Code, City Counci~ Resolution No. 9958 states that the City Council by subsequent resolution fix the date on which affected property owners must be ready to receive underground service and the date poles, overhead wires and associated structures shall be removed. RECOMMENDATION: That Council: 1. Set November 7, 1980, as the date the property owners in the underground district no. 112 on Bonita Road from Willow Street to Otay Lakes Road be ready to receive underground service. 2. Set September 11, 1981, as the date for poles, overhead wires and associated structures to be removed within underground utility district no. 112 on Bonita Road from Willow Street to Otay Lakes Road. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable. DISCUSSION: The utility companies have informed the staff that they can meet the following schedule for the Bonita undergrounding district. Start construction - September 22, 1980 Date for customers to be ready to receive - November 7, 1980 underground service Completion of underground work - September 11, 1981 The cost of converting the electrical service connection will be borne by the property'owners. This cost averages between $350 and $600 per residential service and higher' for commercial service depending on service load and other criterion. The cost for converting telephone and cable t.v. service is somewhat less and averages about $250 per residential unit. Approximately 16 owners will need to convert their service. The owners of La Bonita Condominiums are paying the cost of converting the overhead utilities within and adjacent to their property. This was a condition which was imposed precedent to approval of their final subdivision map for condo conversion. A transparency is available for Council viewing.
