The alternate uniform bids were requested to provide coveralls for some of the
mechanics in Equipment Maintenance Division.
Bids were requested for 12 month, 24 month and 30 month periods. The average life of
a uniform based on normal wear and tear is between 24 to 30 months. Contracts in the
uniform rental and cleaning industry normally are for this period of time. Based on
the bids received, it is the City's advantage to contract for a 3D-month period as the
price is guaranteed for the contract period.
The bid of American Uniform & Towel Supply meets specifications and is acceptable.
Three changes per week for uniforms will cost $2.34 and for coveralls $2.40 per employee.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The current budget provides $.90 per change in the activities which are required
to furnish uniforms.
