RECOMMENDATION: That the Council approve the attached resolution. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: N/A DISCUSSION The "p" Street employees' parking lot has been restricted to City employees through a system of permit parking for the past five years. While this restriction is useful during working hours, there is no reason for it at other times. Members of the public who wish to attend City functions during evening hours would be well served by the opening of this parking lot to the public during non-working hours. By limiting the public park- ing to the hours of 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., there should be no interference with City employees coming to work. ~ " FISCAL IMPACT: $100 for sign purchase and installation. by the City Council of Chula Vista, California Dated 7-/-tfO 10[6{ Form A-113 (Rev. 11/79) 'F EXHIBITS Agreement_____ Resolution~ Ordinance_____ Plat_____ Notification List Other ENVIRONMENTAL DOCUMENT: Attached Submitted on .- ~ 950 Helrose Avenue 7 -# Chula Vista, CA 92011 4/5/80 Phone: 427-6427 ~ I City Council Chula Vista, CA Genti!!emen, The subject is the need for an additioni to the signs stating Reserved Parking in the city parking lot (~Jest ) back of the firehouse. A sign to the effect: II II 1. Public parking permitted after 5PH-torwhen the majority of public servants duty day has ended.) 2. Or change the hours on the sign. The problem: Public parking is needed in the evening by citizens wanting to attend Council meetings, or whatever. The parking space West of ~he Conncil chamber for the publi is filled up, especially if any mattec that has more than usual public interest, 1.S before the ouncil. . I know we couldn't find any parking the night we went to . the 60uncil meeting--including the street curbing--all fill But there was that big empty parking lot within easy walking distance of the Council chamber protected by ~? reserved parking signs. It really ran salt into the wounds, ahd 'VB found ourselves asking--Do the dear eity employees .need their parking spaces proeected~iti even 1;hile they are home, sound asleep?? Neelless to say, it arouses a lot of resentment--free par is one thing, but carrying it to this extreme???? Sincerely, I' <H- () h1 c.~~ H.S.
