HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Statement 1980/06/26 , COUNCIL CONFERENCE AGENDA STATEMENT Item ITEM TITLE: Resolution /Pld Approving in regard Meeting Date 6/26/80 agreement with the Chula Vista Chamber of Commerce to the expenditure of City-appropriated funds SUBMITTED BY: City Manager (~ (4/5ths Vote: Yes___ No~) The City Council, during the 1980-81 budget hearing, determined to provide the Chamber of Commerce with $17,500 for the operation of the Ie5 visitor center and $2,000 for the operation of the I-80S center during the transition period from Chamber operation to private operation. In order to"rrovide funding for any nonprofit corporation, the City must enter into an agreement with that corporation specifying the terms, conditions and obligations under which the monies will be expended. An agreement has been prepared to be executed by the Chula Vista Chamber of Commerce. Therefore, it is my RECOMMENDATION: That Council adopt the resolution approving the agreement. DISCUSSION: The agreement provides for quarterly advance payments of the $17,500 for the 1-5 center and reimbursement for the operation of the I-80S center up to $2,000 during the month of July, 1980. It also indicates the hours of operation and the relationship of the Chamber of Commerce with the Mayor's Visitor Advisory Committee. The Chamber agrees that any monies advanced to them will be used solely for recurring expenses in the maintenance and operation of the information centers. Any special programs or projects can be funded only from monies advanced upon the approval of the City Council with the recommendation of the Mayor's Advisory Committee. FISCAL IMPACT: The sum of $19,500 has been provided in the proposed 1980-81 budget. LFC:mab by the City Council of Chula Vista, California [)-t~"i _~ - .)..
