COUNCIL AGENDA STATEMENT Item ". 13 Meeting Date 5/27/80 ITEM TITLE: Resolution /t>/~Approving change order #2 for City Hall remodel project SUBMITTED BY: Director of Building and HOUSing~' (4/5ths Vote: Yes~ No_) On March 25, 1980 the City Council awarded a c~~t to Don J. Siegert Construction Company in the amount of $431,640 for remodeling the City Hall. RECOMMENDATION: That Council Approve this resolution authorizing Change Order #2 BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not Applicable DISCUSSION: A wall that was supporting a porch roof beam in the original City Hall was removed per plans. The removal of the wall allowed the roof to drop approximately 2 inches. When the plaster was removed, it revealed that the existing beam was not one continuous beam but two beams that at one time was supported by a column. In order to bridge the 21 foot span and carry a roof and ceiling load, it is necessary to install a beam and columns supported on pier foundations. Total cost of material and labor is $1727.56.
