CHULA VISTA CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF: May 7, 1974
ITEM TITLE: Resolution ~- Appropriating Funds and Accepting Estimates
for Construction of Fence; Hilltop-Telegraph Canyon Park
INITIATED BY: Director of Parks and Recreation
RACKGR~IIN~
In accordance with Council policy regarding fence construction at
Hilltop-Telegraph Canyon Park with individual property owners on
a 50-50 basis, the Parks and Recreation Department has received two
requests for fence construction.
Based upon previous bids, Sears, Roebuck and Company has consistently
been the low bidder by a considerable margin; therefore, with the
approval of the City's Purchasing Agent, cost estimates were obtained
from Sears, Roebuck and Company only. The estimates received are as
follows:
TOTAL CITY'S
AMOUtdT PORTION
Mr. & Mrs. Nathan Waddington
719 "J°° St. Place $293.53 $146.77
Mr. & Mrs. George Meggelin
82 Vallecito Way 492.91 246.46
$786.44 $393.23
It is noted that the two installations noted above are for 6' chain
link fencing rather than 5', which is the established City specifica-
tions for this park. The reason for the requested variance from these
specifications is a unique situation which exists in terms of terrain

in the area of installation. Inspection of the proposed site revealed
that a 5' fence would not adequately suit the needs of the property
owners in this case as the property in question is adjacent to two play
areas; because of the terrain, a 6' fence would accomplish the same in-
tent,(prevention of trespass) as a 5' fence in other Hilltop Park lo-
cations.
Based on the above, it is requested that an appropriation of $393.23
be made from the unappropriated reserve of the General Fund.
