ITEM TITLE: Resolution - Approving Agreement with the Chula Vista City
Elementary School District for the Improvement
of Albany Avenue

BACKGROUND
The improvement of Albany Avenue from Main Street to Tremont Street
is to be a cooperative effort between the City, the County, the Chula
Vista Elementary School District and the San Diego Gas & Electric
Company.
The agreement provides for the City designing and preparing the plans
and specifications, provide all inspection and contract management
services, perform all materials engineering, pay the cost of construct-
ing 291 lineal feet of street improvements, pay the actual cost for
25.85% of the drainage improvements and provide for the relocation of
public utilities. The school district is to pay for 538 lineal feet
of street improvements, pay the actual cost for 53.74% of the drainage
improvements, to reimburse the City for its share of construction costs
and to dedicate all necessary right of way and easements.
An agreement with the County has already been approved by Resolution
No. 7243 on March 26, 1974. Future improvements by the County for the
widening of Main Street will tie into Albany Street improvements and
will complete the drainage system. This work is now scheduled by the
County for FY 75-76.
An agreement with the San Diego Gas & Electric Company is pending action
by that company.

The new elementary school being built by the school district is
scheduled for completion in the middle of February. We anticipate
advertising for bids on about November 15, 1974 so that the street
improvements will be completed concurrently with completion of the
school.
$22,000 of 2106 Gas Tax Funds have been appropriated in the current
FY 74-75 Gas Tax Program for the city's portion of the project.
A transparency which shows the area to be improved is available for
Council viewing.
