of the City Planning Commission

1. Modification of Precise Plan and approval of architectural details -
Anthony's Restaurant - "E" Street at Bay Boulevard
Planning Director Peterson presented the proposed expansion of the
parking area on the revised Precise Plan and noted the specific building
materials contemplated by the applicant. He pointed out it was the staff
recommendation that the roof material be changed from blue asphalt shingles
to a more textured roof material, such as tile or heavy wood shake.
Mike Weber, architect on the project, representing Anthony's, advised
that the asphalt shingle was chosen specifically because they wished
to achieve a light appearing, smooth surfaced roof to balance the design
and architecture of the structure.
A motion was made by Mr. Whitten, seconded by Mr. Wilson (carried 7-0)
approving the revision to the Precise Plan and the materials as proposed,
noting that the asphalt shingle roof is compatible with the proposed
architecture of the building, and indicating this would not necessarily
set a precedent for roofing materials to be used on other buildings in
future development of the Bayfront Area.
