AGENDA ITEM NO. [ 17 ]
CHULA VISTA CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF: February 5, 1974
ITEM TITLE: Resolution - Authorizing Waiver of Greens Fees for the
First San Diego County P.G.A. Pro/Am Golf Tournament
INITIATED BY: Director of Parks and Recreation
BACKGROUND
Attached is a request from Mr. Joe Warburton, Golf Professional,
to host an annual Pro/Amateur golf tournament at the Chula Vista
Municipal Golf Course. A waiver of greens fees will be required
for this event.
A review of play at the golf course on Mondays in March indicates
that the average morning eighteen hole play takes into account
thirty players. The tournament would not affect afternoon play.
The expense involved in this waiver of greens fees will be approxi-
mately $90.00.
Favorable consideration to this request is recommended because
becoming a part of this local tour of professionals and top amateurs
would afford us an opportunity to display our golf course to area
players and make them aware of our excellent facilities. It would
serve as an attraction to potential playing customers, as well as
publicize our faciities as a site to be considered for many local
tournaments, which could increase our revenue.

REs Professional-Amateur Calf Tournament
Gentlemenl
Please allow this letter to represent a formal request for
the Chula Vista Municipal Golf Course to host a Professional
r,olfer's Association Pro-Amateur event each year.
The Golf Course would be used by p.e.A. Calf Professionals
and their amateur partners for between four and five hours
without charge. The date would change from year to year
according to the San Diego County P.C.A. tour calendar,
however the date would always fal] on a week day.
It is my personal feeling that a yearly Professional/Amateur
event held at our Golf Course would definitely be an asset.
Sincerely,
'; I -F-
