ORDINANCE NO. 2020
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA AMENDING
SECTIONS 8.34.010 AND 8.34.020 OF THE CHULA VISTA
MUNICIPAL CODE, ALL RELATING TO THE REGULATION
OF HAZARDOUS MATERIALS
The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby
ordain as follows:
SECTION I: That Sections 8.34.010 and 8.34.020 of
Chapter 8.34 of the Chula Vista Municipal Code be, and the same
are hereby amended to be and to read as follows:
CHAPTER 8.34 REGULATION OF HAZARDOUS MATERIALS
Sec. 8.34.010 Purpose and Intent.
It is the purpose of the City Council of the City of
Chula Vista to adopt, in accordance with the request of
the Department of Health Services of the County of San
Diego, the regulatory ordinances heretofore adopted by
the County of San Diego for the control and regulation
of hazardous and extremely hazardous wastes. Said
ordinances would require all persons handling hazardous
materials to disclose such information to the Department
of Health Services of the County of San Diego in a
manner required by the Department. A second ordinance
would establish a permit system using the fees generally
therefrom to carry out an enforcement and surveillance
program.
It is the intent of the City Council through the
adoption of said ordinances as they may currently read
or hereinafter be amended by reference to assist in
every way in carrying out the hazardous waste management
program being conducted by the County of San Diego.

Sec. 8.34.020 Adoption of San Diego County Hazardous
Materials Disclosure Ordinance and
Hazardous Waste Surveillance Program
Ordinance by Reference.
The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does
hereby adopt Ordinance No. 6376 and Ordinance No. 6293
of the County of San Diego, as amended by Ordinance No.
6469 and Ordinance No. 6470 respectively, by reference
and does hereby incorporate said ordinances into the
Chula Vista Municipal Code as if set forth in full.
All ordinances of the County of San Diego relating to
hazardous materials disclosure and hazardous waste
surveillance programs shall be maintained on file in the
office of the City Clerk of the City of Chula Vista.
SECTION II: This ordinance shall take effect and be in
full force on the thirty-first day from and after its adoption.

RELATING TO THE REGULATION OF HAZARDOUS
MATERIALS
By a unanimous vote on February 1, 1983, the
City Council placed the ordinance on second reading
and adoption.
Specifically, the ordinance adopts the regulatory
ordinances of the County of San Diego for the control
and regulation of hazardous and extremely hazardous
wastes. The ordinance requires all persons handling
hazardous materials to disclose such information to
the Department of Health Services of the County of
San Diego in a manner required by that Department.
Copies of the ordinance are available at the office
of the City Clerk, City Hall, 276 Fourth Avenue,
Chula Vista, CA.
