ORDINANCE NO. 2145
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA AMENDING
SECTIONS 19.04.106, 19.24.030 AND 19.26.030 OF THE
CHULA VISTA MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO GUEST HOUSE
PROVISIONS AND REPEALING EMERGENCY ORDINANCE NO. 2124
WHEREAS, the Environmental Review Coordinator has
determined that the proposed amendments to the Chula Vista
Municipal Code relating to guest houses are exempt from
environmental review as a Class 3 (e) Exemption.
The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby
ordain as follows:
SECTION I: That Sections 19.04.106, 19.24.030 and
19.26.030 of the Chula Vista Municipal Code are hereby amended to
read as follows:
Chapter 19.04 Definitions
Sec. 19.04.106 Guest House.
"Guest house" means detached living quarters of a
permanent type of construction, without kitchen or cooking
facilities, ~f~//~X~///~//~//~//~f~//~M
~i/]/~/~{l//~//s/8~D~//l~ and intended for use by occasional
guests of the occupants of the main building, but not to exceed
90 days for an~ one guest over a one year period. A guest house
shall not be separately rented, let, or leased, whether
compensation is direct or indirect.

SECTION II: That Emergency Ordinance 2124 be, and the
same is hereby repealed.
SECTION III: This ordinance shall take effect and be in
full force on the thirty-first day from and after its adoption.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA AMENDING SECTIONS 19.04.106,
19.24.030 AND 19.26.030 OF THE CHULA VISTA MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING
TO GUEST HOUSE PROVISIONS AND REPEALING EMERGENCY ORDINANCE NO. 2124
By a unanimous vote of April 22, 1986, the City Council placed the
ordinance on second reading and adoption.
Specifically the ordinance prohibits the construction of Guest Houses
in the R-1 (Single Family Residence) zone and the R-2 (One and'Two
Family Residence) zone. The amendments also establishc'? a specific
limitation on the occupance of Guest Houses for any one guest to no
more than 90 days per year.
Copies of the ordinance may be obtained from the office of the City
Clerk, City Hall, 276 Fourth Avenue, Chula Vista, CA.
