RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CHULA VISTA ACCEPTII~IG ONE VEHICLE FROM THE
UNITED STATES MARSHALS SERVICE FOR FUGITIVE
TASK FORCE OPERATIONS AND APPROPRIATING $6,000
FOR FUEL AND MAINTENANCE COSTS TO THE FISCAL
YEAR 2010 POLICE DEPARTMENT SUPPLIES AND
SERVICES BUDGET BASED UPON UNANTICIPATED
REVENUES
WHEREAS, since 2003, the Police Department has assigned one detective to the San
Diego Regional Fugitive Task Force, which is coordinated by the United States Marshals
Service; and
WHEREAS, the primary mission of the fugitive task force is to investigate and arrest, as
part of joint law enforcement operations, persons who have active state and federal warrants for
their arrest; and
WHEREAS, the United States Marshals Service was recently awarded asset forfeiture
funding for the acquisition of vehicles to state and local officers in support of joint law
enforcement operations and fugitive task forces; and
WHEREAS, the vehicle will become the property of the state or local law enforcement
agencies.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chula
Vista does hereby accept one vehicle from the United States Marshals Service for fugitive task
force operations and appropriate $6,000 for fuel and maintenance costs to the fiscal year 2010
Police Department Supplies and Services budget.
