ORDINANCE NO. 2304
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA AMENDING
SECTION 10.28.090 OF THE CHULA VISTA MUNICIPAL CODE
REGULATING SKATEBOARD USE WITHIN THE CITY OF CHULA
VISTA
The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does ordain
as follows:
SECTION I: That Section 10.28.090 of the Chula Vista
Municipal Code be, and the same is hereby amended to read as
follows:
Sec. 10.28.090 Toy Vehicle Use Restrictions-Skateboard
Defined.
A__. It is unlawful for any person to skate, or use or
ride any roller skates, coaster, skateboard, toy
vehicle or other similar device upon or over any
public street, bridge, underpass, sidewalk space,
sidewalk or public property within the business
district of the city. Business district is defined
by the California Vehicle Code as "that portion of a
highway and the property contiguous thereto (a) upon
one side of which highway, for a distance of 600
teet, bU percent or more of the contiguous property
tronting thereon is occupied by building in use for
business, or Ib) upon both sides of which highway,
collectively, for a distance of 300 feet, 50 percent
or more ot the contiguous property trontlng thereon
is so occupied. A business district may be longer
than the distances specified in this section if the
above ratio ot buildings in use tot business to the
length of the highway exists."

B. NO person shall ride any of the above described
devices within any parking structure or upon any
public grounds where people are assembled,
including but not limited to trolley stations,
Civic Center complex, Library complex, and shopping
centers. This ordinance does not preclude the
riding of skateboards within areas designated for
such activity.
C. No person shall ride any of the above described
devices within any privately owned property without
the written permission from the property owner.
"Skateboard" for the purposes of this chapter means
any toy or device upon which a person may ride
standing or sitting, which coasts, glides, or is
propelled by human power, and which is a board or
other surface mounted on one or more wheels.
SECTION II: This ordinance shall take effect and be in
full force and effect on the thirtieth day from and after its
adoption.
