MEMBERS PRESENT: Harr iet Acton / Susan Herney, Janet Richter, Donald Swanson MEMBERS ABSENT: Stephen Padilla, Jerry McNutt, Martha Villegas STAFF PRESENT: Ruth Fritsch, Assistant City Attorney OTHERS PRESENT: Leo Kelly The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Acton at 4:00 p.m. Susan Herney addressed Item 3/ Paragraph 3 of the April 27, 1993 minutes and asked that the minutes be expanded to state as follows: "I felt that Member Swanson made comments to the City Council that implied that he reflected the Commission'S viewpoint". commission Member Herney did not think that the Board authorized Mr. Swanson to speak on its behalf. Chairperson Action agreed with Ms. Herney's recollection of her comments at the previous meeting with respect to this issue. Member Swanson stated that he and Janet Richter were the only Board Members present at the Council meeting, and when the Council had questions, he tried to answer them. MSUC (Acton/Richter) to approve the corrected minutes. Chairperson Acton read a letter from Mayor Nader to the Board with respect to relations with the press. Chairperson Acton reported that the Board of Ethics budget for this year is $150 and gave information to the Board regarding joining Josephson Institute. Ms. Acton also stated that she had received a FAX from absent Board Member McNutt. Upon reviewing it in detail, it was decided that it was most appropriate for compliance with the Brown Act to postpone consideration of that letter. MSUC (Acton/Richter) to continue Item No. 5 (Annual Report) to a meeting on June 29, 1994 at 4:00 p.m. and to attach Board Member McNutt's report for consideration by all of the members at the next meeting. Election of Off icers: MSUC Acton for Chairperson. MSUC Herney for Vice-Chairperson. (Herney /Richter) nominated Harriet (Richter/Swanson) nominated Susan MSUC (Herney/Acton) to adjourn the meeting at 4:30 p.m. /~:.-- , C:\ethics\62294.~in
