HomeMy WebLinkAboutPC Reso 1969-601 .-. .... , RESOLUTION NO, 601 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDING TO THE CITY COUNCIL THE ADOPTION OF AMENDMENT TO SECTIONS 33.509, 33.511 AND 33.901 OF THE ZONING ORDINANCE RELATING TO SETBACK AND LOCATION OF SIGNS WHEREAS, in the new Zoning Ordinance adopted by the City Council of the City of Chula Vista on July 8, 1969, sign regulations in the C-C (Central Commer- cial) and C-T (Thoroughfare Commercial) zones were withheld pending committee action, and WHEREAS, the suspension of sign regulations in these two zones pertains to sign area only, and does not invalidate the zero setback stipulated in each zone for sign location, and WHEREAS, numerous buildings constructed in previous years on the front property line, together with the Uniform Building Code regulations on signs which allows a 5 foot projection over the public right-of-way, demands that some projec- tion be allowed for identification purposes, and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission set the time and place for a hearing on said regulations, and notice of said hearing, together with its purpose, was given by the publication in a newspaper of general circulation in the City at least 10 days prior to the date of said hearing, and WHEREAS, a hearing was held at said time and place, namely 7 p,m" Monday, November 24, 1969, Council Chamber, Civic Center, 276 Guava Avenue, before the Planning Commission, and said hearing was thereafter closed, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS: 1. From the facts presented to the Planning Commission, the Commission finds that the public necessity, convenience, general welfare and good zoning practice require the adoption of the following amendment to the Zoning Ordinance: SECTION 33.509 D. Signs. Sign area requirements are withheld pending committee action, however, height and projection regulations are as follows: 1. Maximum height, forty-five feet (45'), 2. Maximum projection for signs shall be five feet (5') beyond the building face. (This includes roof, wall, fin, combination, and projecting signs as defined by the Uniform Building Code.) F. Area, Lot Coverage and Yard Requirements. (Delete 0 for signs, under Front and Ext. Side Yards.)
