Whereas Pamela Bensoussan has exhibited outstanding leadership in the enhancement and success of the City of Chula Vista and San Diego and South Bay Regional Historic Preservation programs over the last several years, and Whereas Pamela Bensoussan has been responsible for the revival and the significant community involvement in the development and success of the Historic Home Tour for the City of Chula Vista during the years 2002 and 2003, and Whereas Pamela Bensoussan has made significant contributions through her leadership and service contributing generously her professional expertise and experience in her roles as a member of the Chula Vista Resource Conservation Commission and also as a Board Member and Current Vice President of the Chula Vista Heritage Museum Society Board of Directors, the current Environment, Open Space, and Sustainable Development Subcommittee for the Chula Vista General Plan Update, and Whereas Pamela Bensoussan has worked diligently as chairperson of the San Diego and Imperial County Congress of History's 40'h Anniversary Conference entitled "From Lemons to Locomotives and Beyond A History of the SouthBay!" which was an outstanding success and spotlighted Chula Vista as the conference site, and Whereas Pamela Bensoussan has worked selflessly, diligently, and with outstanding accomplishment to play a significant role in the Chula Vista City adoption of the Mills ~~Hi#t and its concurrent benefits to the community and its historic preservation caretaker roles, and Whereas Pamela Bensoussan played a c tributin~ r~o a as a member of the E+taltr~ttion-ol/ ~i /rv Historic Preservation4treeuwesin the ~ ~ hich is forming the basis for a -` strategic plan for historic preser~tion in our community and city, and Whereas Pamela Bensoussan faithfully serves as steward of the Greg Rogers House, the city of Chula Vista Historic Site #Q i Therefore, the Members of the Chula Vista Resource Conservation Commission do hereby recognize Pamela Bensoussan as our 2004 Historic Preservationist of the Year Testified to by Terry Thomas, RCC Chairperson Motion MSU Jasek/Thomas RCC Chula Vista Environmentalist of the Year Award - 2004 In Honor of Michael Meacham of Chula Vista, Calif. Whereas Michael Meacham has exhibited outstanding leadership in the enhancement and success of the City of Chula Vista and San Diego County and South Bay Regional Environmental and Conservation Programs over the last several years, and Whereas Michael Meacham has been responsible for extensive outreach to promote both Service Learning and Internships for both our local Southwestern College and other university and high school students, as well as young professionals from other countries and municipalities, and Whereas Michael Meacham has made significant contributions through his leadership, professional expertise and experience in effecting the city of Chula Vista's conversion to automated recycling service in May 2002 and has doubled the amount of material recycled per month from 7,000 tons to 14,000 tons of paper and food and beverage containers that no longer go to the landfill. Whereas Michael Meacham has served as a model, as a mentor, and as an entrepreneur to increase public support and involvement in source reduction of public solid and hazardous waste, enhancement of environmental sustainable activities and programs, and the enhancement of environmental and economically healthy quality of life for the members of our community, and Whereas Michael Meacham has played leadership and organizational roles in the establishment of the Chula Vista City's South Bay Regional Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Facility, which also serves Coronado, Imperial Beach and National City. Over 100,000 pounds of paint, pesticides and other household toxics have been diverted from our landfill, storm drains and the environment in the one-year the facility has been open. This facility complements over 40 turn-in sites for used oil throughout the South Bay Community. The facility received an Orchid Award in 2002 for environmental solutions, and Whereas Michael Meacham has played a significant part in the promotion of responsible management and a team approach to municipal and regional projects and the work environment so that there have been many worthwhile accomplishments in the Environmental and Conservation areas by his colleagues. Over the past decade, the City has received two regional government partner awards, a national HHW diversion award and two state recycling achievement awards Therefore, the City of Chula Vista City Council and the Members of the Chula Vista Resource Conservation Commission do hereby recognize Michael Meacham as our 2004 Environmentalist o1'the Year Motion MSU Jasek/Thomas RCC Testified to by Terry Thomas, RCC Chairperson and Willie Gators, Environmental Review Coordinator for the City of Chula Vista
