HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1982-10851 RESOLUTION NO. 10851 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA ESTABLISHING COUNCIL POLICY RELATIVE TO USE OF SPECIAL OFFICERS FOR POLICING NON-CIVIC SPECIAL EVENTS The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby resolve as follows: WHEREAS, at their meeting of April 13, 1982, the City Council approved the establishment of a policy for use of paid Special Officers, rather than Reserve Officers, for policing non-civic special events. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chula vista does hereby adopt a Council policy relative to the use of Special Officers for policing non-civic special events, attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and incorporated hereby by reference as if set forth in full. l~~:~:~' W. DATED-- City Clerk EXHIBIT A SUBJECT: Special Officers - Use for Policing Non-Civic Special Events BACKGROUND There has been a steady increase in requests for Reserve Officers to provide services for special events in which an entry fee or admission is required. Providing such service adversely impacts the Police Reserve Program by decreasing the time Reserves are available for regular police assignments. PURPOSE Establ i shi ng a pol icy for use of pai d Speci a 1 Officers rather than Reserve Officers for policing non-civic special events. POLICY 1. Any organi zati on sponsori ng a non-Cl Vl c event, for whi ch an entry fee or admission is required, will not be provided Reserve Officers for policing servi ces. 2. Such organizations may request the assignment of Special Officers and will be required to reimburse the City the prevailing rate at which such officers are paid. 3. Organizations may, if they so prefer, hire commercial guard services. 4. Application for permits to hold such events must be approved at least 20 days prior to the event, if Special Officers are to be used.
