10833
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA
VISTA, CALIFORNIA RECITING THE FACT OF THE GENERAL
MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD ON THE 13th DAY OF APRIL, 1982,
DECLARING THE RESULT THEREOF AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS
ARE PROVIDED BY LAW
The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby
resolve as follows:
WHEREAS, a general municipal election was held and con-
ducted in the City of Chula Vista, County of San Diego, State of
California, the 13th day of April, 1982, as required by law, and
WHEREAS, notice of said election was duly and regularly
given in time, form and manner as provided by the law, that voting
precincts were properly established, that election officers were
appointed and that in all respects said election was held and
conducted and the votes cast thereat, received and canvassed and
the returns made and declared in time, form and manner as required
by the provisions of the Elections Code of the State of California
for the holding of elections in cities, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 10726, adopted on the
22nd day of December, 1981, the City Clerk of the City of Chula
Vista canvassed the returns of said election and has certified the
results to this City Council, said results are received, attached
and made a part hereof as "Exhibit A".
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA
VISTA CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That there were 73 voting precincts esta-
blished for the purpose of holding said election consisting of the
regular elections precints in the City of Chula Vista and the
Chula vista City School District, as established for the holding
of state and county elections.
SECTION 2. That said general municipal election was held
for the purpose of election of two members to the office of
Council for a full term of four years, and one member to the
office of Council for a term of two years, and two members to the
Board of Education for a full term of four years.
SECTION 3. That the whole number of votes cast in said
City including absent voter ballots was 55,143.
SECTION 4. That the names of persons voted for at said
election are as follows:
Seat No. 2 (short term - 2 years)
Leonard M. Moore
Frederick A. R. Drew
Seat No. 3 (full term - four years)
Donald S. Dulko
Frank A. Scott

Seat No.4 (full term - 4 years)
David Malcolm
Jon M. Miller
Jack H. Woolsey
Thomas L. Shipe
Board of Education (full term - 4 years)
Sharon Giles
Opal Fuller
Paul F. Whitten, Sr.
That the number of votes given at each precinct to each
of such persons above named for the respective offices for which
said persons were candidates are as shown in Exhibit "A", attached
hereto and made a part hereof by reference.
SECTION 5. The City Council does declare and determine
that:
Leonard M. Moore was elected as Member of the City
Council (Seat No.2) of said City for a short term of two
years:
Frank A. Scott was elected as Member of the City Council
(Seat No.3) of said City for a full term of four years:
Sharon Giles was elected as Member of the Board of
Education of the Chula Vista School District for a full
term of four years:
Opal Fuller was elected as Member of the Board of
Education of the Chula vista School District for a full
term of four years:
and
That at a result of said election, there will be a
run-off election for Seat No.4 held on June 8, 1982 (consolidated
with the June primary election) between David Malcolm and Jon M.
Miller inasmuch as a majority vote was not attained for this Seat.
SECTION 6.

(4 ) The number of votes given at each precinct to each
person.
SECTION 7. That the City Clerk shall immediately make
and, upon compliance by the person elected with the provisions of
Section 11565 and Section 11568 of the Elections Code of the State
of California, shall deliver to the person so elected a Certifi-
cate of Election signed by her and duly authenticated: that she
shall also administer to such person so elected the Oath of Office
prescribed in the State Constitution of the State of California
and shall have him subscribe thereto and file the same in her
office. Whereupon, said person so elected shall be inducted into
the office to which he has been elected.

SECTION 8. That the City Clerk shall certify to the
passage and adoption of this resolution; shall enter the same in
the book of original Resolutions of said City, and shall make a
minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the
proceedings of the City Council of said City, in the minutes of
the meeting at which the same is passed adopted.

I, Jennie M. Fulasz, City Clerk of the City of Chula Vista, California,
County of San Diego, State of California, duly authorized by Resolution
No. 10726 adopted by the City Council of said City on the 22nd day of
December 1981, do hereby certify that I have canvassed the returns of
the General Municipal Election in the City of Chula Vista, California
which was held on the 13th day of April, 1982 and find that the total
number of ballots cast was 9025. The total number of votes cast for
the candidates for the office of Councilman and for the office of

The total number of precincts in the City was 73.
That attached hereto and made a part hereof is a list of the number of
votes received in each precinct for the candidates voted on and the total
number of votes received in the election. Further, as a result of the
said election, a majority of the qualified voters elected the following
persons to office:
for Councilmen: Leonard Moore and Frank A. Scott
for Board of Education: Sharon Giles and Opal Fuller
For Seat No.4, there will be a run-off election held on June 8, 1982
(consolidated with the June primary election) between David Malcolm and
