HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1981-10594 RESOLUTION NO. 10594 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A LOW- AND MODERATE-INCOME HOUSING SITE, APPROVING EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS THEREFOR, ACCEPTING TITLE THEREOF AT CLOSE OF ESCROW, AND ADOPTING RELATED ENVIRONMENTAL FINDINGS The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby resolve as follows: WHEREAS, the City of Chula Vista is desirous of providing housing for low- and moderate-income families in the City of Chula Vista; and, WHEREAS, the City has requested and received a Section 108 loan from the Department of Housing and Urban Development for acquiring sites for such housing; and, WHEREAS, the City has entered into an escrow for purchase of such a housing site, being 2.03 acres at the northwest corner of Melrose Avenue and Otay Valley Road; and, WHEREAS, all escrow conditions have been satisfied, with the exceptions of final Council approval of close of escrow and final approval by the Department of Housing and Urban Development for release of the Section 108 loan funds; and, WHEREAS, Department of Housing and Urban Development requires that local environmental findings be made prior to release of funds to acquire housing sites; and, WHEREAS, City staff have made such findings. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Chula Vista hereby approves the acquisition of the site for low- and moderate-income housing located at the northwest corner of Melrose Avenue and Otay Valley Road. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council does hereby approve the expenditure of $436,064.27 of available Section 103 loan funds to acquire said site, subject to release of funds approval from the Department of Housing and Urban Development. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council authorizes and directs the Mayor to execute all necessary documents for close of escrow and acceptance of deed regarding said site. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council adopts the Finding of No Significant Effect (ERR-82-1) and recertifies the pre- viously prepared Environmental Impact Report (EIR-78-11) on the said housing site.
