HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1981-10571 Revised 7/16/81 RESOLUTION NO.10571 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHUIA VISTA, CALIFORNIA, CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE OF THE HOLDING OF A GENERAL MUNICI PAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN SAID CITY ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 1981, FOR THE OFFICE OF MAYOR OF SAID CITY AS REQUIRED BY THE PROVISIONS OF THE CHARTER AND FOR THE SUBMISSION TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF SAID CITY OF A MEASURE ALLOWING FOR AN ALL-MAIL ELECTION WHENEVER DIRECTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does here~ resolve as follows: WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Charter of the City of Chula Vista, California, a consolidated general municipal election shall be held on November 3, 1981 for the election of the office of Mayor for a full term of four years, and WHEREAS, the City Council of said City also desires to submit to the qualified electors of said City at said election a measure alla.ving for an all-mail election whenever directed by the City Council. NCW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHUIA VISTA, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLa-lS: Section 1. That pursuant to the requirements of the Charter of the City of Chula Vista, California, there shall be and there is here~ called and ordered, held in said City on Tuesday, November 3, 1981, a general municipal election of the qualified electors of said City for the election of the office of Mayor for a full term of four years. Section 2. That said City Council, pursuant to its right and authority so to do, does hereby determine that there shall be and there is here~ ordered submitted to the qualified electors of said City at said regular general municipal election the folla.ving question, to wit: - An amendment to the Charter of the City of Chula Vista amending Article YES IX, Section 902 thereof, relating to procedures for holding elections to authorize the City Council, at their discretion, to conduct elec- tions, other than those elections NO for Councilmembers or Mayor, by a mailed ballot in lieu of the polling place method. A cross (+) placed in the voting square after the word "YES" in the manner hereinbefore provided shall be counted in favor of the adoption of the question. A cross (+) placed in the voting square after the word "NO" in the manner hereinbefore provided shall be counted against the adoption of the question. -1- Section 3. That the ballots to be used at said election shall be, both as to form and matter contained therein, such as may be required by law to be used thereat. Section 4. That the City Clerk of said City is hereby authorized, instructed and directed to procure and furnish any and all official ballots, notices, printed matter and all supplies, equipment and paraphernalia that may be necessary in order to properly and lawfully conduct said election. Section 5. That the polls for said election shall be open at seven o'clock a.m. of the day of said election and shall remain open continuously from said time until eight o'clock p.m. of the same day when said polls shall be closed, except as provided in Section 14301 of the Elections Code of the State of California. Section 6. That in all particulars not recited in this Resolution, said election shall be held and conducted as provided by law for holding municipal elections in said City. Section 7. That notice of the time and place of holding said election is here~ given and the Ci ty Clerk is here~ authorized, instructed and directed to give such further or addi tional notice of said election, in time, form and manner as required by law. Section 8. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this Resolution; shall enter the same in the bod< of original Resolutions of said City; and shall make a minute of passage and adoption thereof in the records of the pro- ceedings of the City Council of said City, in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted.
