HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2007-111 RESOLUTION NO. 2007-111 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA APPROVING THE AMENDMENT TO THE FIVE-YEAR TRANSNET LOCAL STREETS AND ROADS PROGRAM OF PROJECTS FOR FISCAL YEARS 2006-2007 THROUGH 2010-2011 FOR SUBMITTAL TO THE SAN DIEGO ASSOCIATION OF GOVERNMENTS FOR INCLUSION IN THE REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM WHEREAS, on November 3, 1987, the voters of San Diego County approved the San Diego Transportation Improvement Program ordinance and Expenditure Plan (87-01); and WHEREAS, on November 4, 2004, the voters of San Diego County approved the San Diego County Transportation Improvement Program Ordinance and Expenditure Plan (04-01) extension; and WHEREAS, on June 6, 2006, the Chula Vista City Council held a public hearing and approved Resolution No. 2006-167 adopting a new five-year list of Transnet projects for inclusion in the Regional Transportation Improvement Program (RTIP) for Fiscal Years 2005- 2006 through 2010-2011. This was done in compliance with State and Federal laws, which require the San Diego Association of Governments to develop and adopt a R TIP every two years in order to continue receiving State and Federal funding; and WHEREAS, at intervals between the RTIP updates, cities are required to submit RTIP amendments if there are changes and! or additions in project funding; and WHEREAS, on May I, 2007 Council approved by resolution the transfer of$II,504,665 of funds into the Pavement Management Program and the preliminary allocation of $9.5 million in additional funds to Pavement Management in Fiscal Year 2008; and WHEREAS, the proposed list of projects to be funded by Transnet during Fiscal Years 2006-2007 through 2010-2011, provided in the attached EXHIBIT A, is consistent with the City's Capital Improvement Program. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby approve the amendment to the Five-Year Transnet Local Streets and Roads Program Chula Vista's portion of the Regional Transportation Improvement Program of projects for Fiscal Years 2006-2007 through 2010-2011 for submittal to the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) for inclusion in the Regional Transportation Improvement Program (RTIP). Resolution No. 2007-111 Page 2 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Chula Vista will meet all applicable provisions of Transnet Ordinances 87-01 and 04-01 and hold harmless and defend the SANDAG Commission against challenges related to local Transnet funded projects.
