(\l:'ncJ I 17j RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 7134 CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE OF THE HOLDING OF A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN SAID CITY ON TUESDAY, APRIL 9, 1974, FOR THE ELECTION OF CERTAIN OFFICERS OF SAID CITY AS REQUIRED BY THE PROVISIONS OF THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA BY ADDING THERETO THE SUBMISSION TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF SAID CITY CERTAIN QUESTIONS, PROPOSITIONS, OR MEASURES RELATING TO THE ADOPTION OF AN ORDINANCE AND AMENDMENTS TO SAID CHARTER RESOLUTION NO. 7163 I\CS. ~ 7/3 if The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby resolve as follows: WHEREAS, the City Council has heretofore by Resolution No. 7134, adopted on the 8th day of January, 1974, called and gave notice of the holding of a general municipal election to be held in said City on Tuesday, April 9, 1974, for the election of certain officers of said City as required by the provisions of the Charter of the City of Chula Vista, and WHEREAS, the City Council now desires to submit to the quali- fied electors of said City at said election certain questions, propo- sitions or measures relating to the adoption of an ordinance and amendments to City Charter as herein set forth. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby amend said Resolution No. 7134 and pursuant to its right and authority so to do, does hereby deter- mine that there shall be and there is hereby ordered submitted to the qualified electors of said City at said regular general municipal election the following questions, propositions, or measures relating to the adoption of an ordinance and to the amendment of the City Charter, to-wit: PROPOSITION A An amendment to the Charter of the City of Chula Vista amending Article III, Section 300 thereof, providing for the numbering of the seats for the office of City Councilman so that each Council YES seat shall be designated as Council seat 1 through 4 respectively and for a runoff election to be conducted between the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes for any numbered Councilmanic seat or the office of Mayor, to be conducted on the second Tuesday in June following the general municipal election on the second NO Tuesday in April in even numbered years in the event that any candidate for a numbered Council seat shall not have received a majority of the votes cast for said seat in the general municipal election. A cross [Xl placed in the voting square before the word "YES" in the manner hereinbefore provided shall be counted in favor of the adoption of the question or proposition. A cross [Xl placed in the voting square before the word "NO" in the manner hereinbefore provided shall be counted against the adoption of the question or proposition. - 1 - 1. That the ballots to be used at said election shall be, both as to form and matter contained therein, such as may be required by law to be used thereat. 2. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution, shall enter the same in the book of original resolutions of said City, and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said City in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted. 6. That the City Attorney be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to prepare an argument supporting said Propositions A and B to be submitted on behalf of the City Council on or before February 14, 1974. 7.
