RESOLUTION NO. 567 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDING TO THE CITY COUNCIL THE ADOPTION OF A 180 DAY MORATORIUM ON THE CONSTRUCTION OR RELOCATION OF OUTDOOR ADVERTISING SIGNS IN CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA 'F ~( F "''; , ,~- WHEREAS, the City Planning Commission recognizes the need for the regulation of outdoor advertising structures in the City and especially along Interstate #5 Freeway, and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission recognizes the need to beautify the freeway entrances to the City, and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission recognizes the need for Chula Vista's portion of Interstate #5 to qualify as a"landscaped freeway," and WHEREAS, outdoor advertising structures adjacent to the Interstate #5 Freeway in Chula Vista have contributed to the existing unsightliness along this stretch of the freeway, and WHEREAS, the California Division of Highways will, within the next two years, cause a majority of the outdoor advertising structures on the west side of Interstate #5 to be removed due to the future widening of this freeway, and WHEREAS, the Commission proposes to prepare an ordinance for the regulation of outdoor advertising structures for inclusion in the new zoning ordinance. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Planning Commission recommends that a moratorium of 180 days on the construction or relocation of all outdoor advertising structures in Chula Vista be imposed by the City Council pending the formulation and adoption of an ordinance regulating such structures.
