HomeMy WebLinkAboutRCC MIN 1984/06/18MINUTES OF A RESCHEDULED REGULAR MEETING RESOURCE CONSERVATION COMMISSION CITY OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA May 7, 1984 Chula Vista Woman's Club House 5:30 p.m. MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Griffin, Vice Chairman Taylor, Commissioners Fox' Hernandez, Donovan MEMBERS ABSENT: Commissioner Edwards (Unexcused) and Commissioner Hodson (Excused) CITY STAFF PRESENT: Environmental Review Coordinator Reid ALSO PRESENT: Mrs. Helen Stokes, Mrs. Jane Unger, Mr. John Rajas, Jr. and Ms. Sandy Palumbo 1. CALL MEETING TO ORDER: Chairman Griffin called the meeting to order at 5:45 p.m. 2. ROLL CALL - Members present constituted a quorum. 3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES - MSUC Donovan/Fox (5-0) with no objection to the minutes, to approve the minutes of the regular scheduled meeting of April 16, 1984. 4. OLD BUSINESS: Recommendation for consideration of designation of the Chula Vista Woman's Club House as an Historical Site Chairman Griffin distributed a draft motion to Commissioners for review and recommendation. They discussed permit processing and criteria for such designation. Chairman Griffin stated he felt since the Commission inspected the site, examined records and heard testimony in support of the request, that the property, including building and grounds, meet the criteria for designation. MSUC Taylor/Hernandez (5-0) to recommend to City Council that the Chula Vista Woman's Club be designated as Historical Site No. 12 on the Register of Historical Sites with permit process imposed. 5. COMMUNICATIONS (PUBLIC REMARKS/BD. MEMBER COMMENTS/WRITTEN CORRESPONDENCE) Mr. John Rojas, Jr. San Diego Historical Society Member, invited the Commission to the Historic Workshop at 325 "H" St. Mr. Rojas introduced Ms. Sandy Palumbo and stated they were interested in the Greg Rogers House to be used as a museum or Visitors Center to have displays of a historical nature or natural history nature. RESOURCE CONSERVATION COMMISSION MINUTES OF May 7, 1gg4 Page 2 Chairman Griffin stated he talked to Mr. Dave Zegler, Community Development Department, regarding the status of the Greg Rogers House. Community Development has solicited proposals from the community for suggestions for uses of the Greg Rogers House. Chairman Griffin said he would like to put this topic on the agenda for the Workshop Meeting on June 4, 1984 and that Mr. Zegler would be attending the workshop with responses from interested citizens.
