RESOLUTION NO. 11834 APPROVING AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA AND METRO FOOD PROJECT, INC., AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN SAID AGREEMENT, AND TRANSFERRING $2,000 Metro Food Project, Inc., provides surplus U.S. Department of Agriculture food and surplus commodities from commercial organizations to persons of low and moderate income in the South Bay area. Community Development Director Desrochers reported that this item was considered by the City Council on Tuesday, November 13. An agreement for supporting this program must now be approved before funds can be released. RESOLUTION OFFERED BY MAYOR COX, the reading of the text was waived by unanimous consent, passed, and adopted unanimously. 2. RESOLUTION NO. 11835 APPROVING PARTICIPATION WITH THE COUNTY OF SAN DIEGO IN THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY FOOD AND SHELTER PROGRAM The Federal Emergency Food and Shelter Program (FEMA) has allocated funds to the San Diego region to supplement and extend emergency food and shelter programs through private voluntary organizations and seven cities in the County. Of these funds, $26,991 has been allocated to the City of Chula Vista. Community Development Director Desrochers remarked that FEMA informed the City yester- day of their need to know the City's position regarding participation in this program. Therefore, staff recommends the Council approve utilizing City program funds in parti- cipation with San Diego County, RESOLUTION OFFERED BY MAYOR COX, the reading of the text was waived by unanimous consent, passed, and adopted unanimously. 3. RESOLUTION NO. 11833 COMMENDING LIBBY BRYDOLF, CHULA VISTA STAR-NEWS REPORTER FOR HER SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY OF CHULA VISTA In recognition of Star-News reporter Libby Brydolf's superior coverage of the City of Chula Vista, and to acknowledge her departure from the Star-News newspaper, the Mayor and Council commended her at this time. RESOLUTION OFFERED BY MAYOR COX, passed, and adopted unanimously. ADJOURNMENT at 5:54 p.m. to the Navy Housing meeting on Monday, November 19, 1984, at 7 p.m. and the regular meeting of Tuesday November 20, 1984~ at 7 p.m.
