Dear Mr. Rodriguez:
This summer the City of Chula Vista would like to initiate a
IIBayfront Beautification Projectll which would involve the area
west of Tidelands Avenue between IIJII Street and Gunpowder Point.
The vast majority of this land will be dedicated to the State or
Federal government and will be maintained in its natural state
for its ecological and biological values.
It is estimated that a crew of 15 would be responsible for general
clean-up and light demolition work within the aforementioned area.
The City of Chula Vista will provide the supervision for the crew,
secure any necessary permits for the clean-up, and provide trans-
portation, as necessary.
The MAAC Project could be of great assistance to the City of Chula
Vista in this endeavor by providing 15 individuals to participate
in this program. Should you have any questions or require further
information, please feel free to contact my office.
Sincerely,
Gregory R. Cox

Summer Youth Emoloyment Program through Metropolitan Area
Advisory Committee. (MAAC)
The attached letter is to be forwarded to MAAC to authorize a special
youth employment assignment to Gunpowder Point. Each year the City
participates in programs of special summer employment in City depart-
ments. The grant monies used to fund these programs frequently
require that any work be done on public property, and this summer
the MAAC Project has a form of this restriction. The fact that much
of the Gunpowder Point area will be dedicated to the State or Federal
government, however, is sufficient to avoid the restriction. MAAC
administration has requested the attached letter for their files.
