HomeMy WebLinkAboutcc min 1975/05/27 (2) ADDENDUm{ TO THE ~INUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TIlE CITY OF CttULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA Held Tuesday 7:30 p.m. May 27, 1975 RESIDENTS REPORT ACCIDENTS On May 6, 1975 at the meeting of the City Council ¢oncerned¢~tizenseame before the Council to report hazardous conditions at the intersection of East Palomar Street and Judson Way. ~s, Carol Sykes and Mr. Lloyd Newman (both_resi- dents of the area) reported that several accidents happened at the intersection and they brought a list from the Police Department of the accidents that had happened in the last year. They requested that a four-way stop sign be placed at this inter- section. Council action The Council's action was to direct the staff to make a spot examination within 24 hours to deter- mine whether faster action would be required than the standard study. ~e Council also asked the Safety Commission to make a study of the conditions and report back to the Council their findings and recommendations. Safety Commission's The Safety Commission recommended that an advisory R~commendations sign (yellow and black) of 20 m.p.h, be placed on either side of the intersection on East Palomar at an appropriate distance in advance of the intersec tion, and that the pavement be marked "SLOW-DIP" in advance of either side of the intersection on East Palomar Street, further that an engineering study be made of the "dip" itself to determine the feasibility of correcting the situation of drivers losing control of their vehicles, and that interested citizens be made aware of positive action initiated by the City. A motion to approve It was moved by Councilman Egdahl, seconded by Councilman Hyde that the recommendations of the Safety Commission be approved. Councilman Scott suggested that the matter be looked into within a period of six months from this date. An amendment to the motion Councilman Hyde agreed to Councilman Scott's suggestion and it was included in the motion; the motion was then unanimously carried. Bonnie S. Vance, Deputy City Clerk
