RESOLUTIOtJ 889 ACCEPTING BIDS AND AWARDING CONTRACT FOR LANDSCAPING MARINA PARK, "E", "H", AND "J" STREET ENTRIES AND "J" STREET MEDIAN, APPROVING CHANGE ORDER NO.1, AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR (Community Development Director) Bi ds for thi s new project were recei ved from two contractors as follows: 1. Roca Construction, Inc. - Chula Vista 2. Landscape Irrigation Specialists, Inc. El Cajon In reviewing the low bid, the approximate cost three separate projects is as follows: $200,861 $215,768 for each of the l. 2. 3. "J" Street Median Renovation,5 Broadway to I "E", "H", "J" Street Entries Marina Park $116,621 20,970 63,270 The low bid by Roca Construction, Inc. of $200,861 is above the engineer's estimate of $155,018.50 by $45,842.50, or 29.6%. Although the bid is above the engineer's estimate, staff. recommended that the contract be awarded to Roca Construction, Inc. subject to SDG&E agreeing to the lease of their property at the Marina Park. Redevelopment Agency Minutes - 2 - December 8, 1987 In preparing the bidding documents, the quantity of decorative PCC pavement and 4" thick PCC slab work for the entrances at "E", "H", and "J" Street was incorrectly calculated. The amount of 4" PCC fl atwork shoul d have been 387 sq. ft. more and the amount of decorative PCC pavement should have been increased by 1519 sq. ft. As a result, based on the contractor's unit prices bid, the contract needs to be increased $11,503.75. The contractor has agreed to do the additional work at the unit prices bid.
