HomeMy WebLinkAboutcc min 1976/09/01 MINUTES OF AN ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA Held Wednesday September 1, 1976 An adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Chula Vista, California, was held on the above date beginning at 3:00 p.m. in the Council Conference Room, City Hall, 276 Fourth Avenue, with the following Councilmen present: Mayor Hamilton, Councilmen Hyde, Cox, Hobel Councilmen absent: Councilman Egdahl Staff present: Acting City Manager Asmus, Administrative Analyst Boyd Also present: Don Goldman of Donald R. Goldman and Associates; Brenda Mason and Nancy Manes of Brenda ~lason Associates Mayor Hamilton opened the meeting at 3:08 p.m. stating it was for the purpose of reviewing the architect's plans for the remodeling of the old post office and library buildings. PRESENTATION BY Acting City Manager Asmus discussed the meeting ACTING CITY MANAGER held last week (August 25) by the Council and the Architect and the various changes suggested and discussed at that meeting. Mr. Goldman has now submitted three alternative proposals in- corporating the suggestions made by the Council. Plans presented Administrative Analyst Boyd detailed the three alternatives noting that two of the plans call for elimination of the additional construction of an employee lounge locating this room else- where in the building. He stated that the total cost of this additional construction would be $15,000. (Councilman Cox arrived at this time - 3:30 p.m.). Council discussion Discussion ensued with the Architect and staff concerning different aspects of the Council Chamber. Mr. Asmus reported that Councilman Egdahl had been in earlier and approved the plan as presented. Mr. Asmus added that no definitive decisions have been made concerning the renovation of City }{all and location of the various offices. The Council would have complete flexibility on that decision. Plans accepted It was moved by Mayor Hamilton, seconded by Councilman Hobel and unanimously carried by those present that the plans be approved as submitted at this meeting. (Plans are dated September 1, 1976 - drawn on August 24, 1976 by Do Goldman and on file in the office of the City Clerk). Mr. Goldman indicated that he would have Phase 2 ready for Council review in six or ADJOURNMENT Mayor Hamilton adjourned the meeting at 4:00 p.m. to the meeting scheduled for Thursday, September 2, 1976 at 3:00 p.m.
