CITY COUNCIL OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA
Held Wednesday October 13, 1976
An adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Chula Vista, California,
was held on the above date beginning at 3:30 p.m. in the Council Conference Room, City Hall,
276 Fourth Avenue, with the following
Councilmen present: Mayor Hamilton, Councilmen Hyde, Cox, Egdahl, Hobel
Councilmen absent: None
INTERVIEWS FOR CIVIL The Council interviewed the following people for the
SERVICE CO~ISSION Civil Service Commission:
Ruth Beaty
Gloria Honea
Julita David
Rudy Ledesma
Motion to appoint It was moved by Councilman Egdahl, seconded by Council-
Rudy Ledesma man Hyde and unanimously carried that Rudy Ledesma be
appointed to the Civil Service Commission.
LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES In a written report to the Council, the City Manager
NEW PROPOSED HEADQUARTERS explained that the League lease of office space from
OFFICE BUILDING IN SACRAMENTO the California State Employees Association expires in
December 1978 with no opportunity for renewal. After
considering all options, the League Board of Directors
moved for purchase of a 12,800 square foot lot at the
corner of 14th and "K" Streets, one-half block from
the State Capitol at a cost of $130,000. Construction
costs of the building is estimated at $1,350,824.
To avoid an excessive interest charge, the League has
proposed a special building assessment of all League
member cities based on existing dues structure over
a three-year period. In the case of Chula Vista, this
would mean three equal payments of $3,125 or a one-
time cost payment of $8,437.50 which includes a 10%
discount. Mr. Cole recommended that the City pay this
one-time assessment.
Motion to accept City It was moved by Councilman Hyde, seconded by Council-
Manager's recormmendation man Cox and unanimously carried that the City support
the League's proposal (for the acquisition of property,
construction of a new building, and the assessment
proposal) and that Chula Vista pay the one-time assess-
ment fee of $8,437.50.

Youth Commission.
