OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA
Held Thursday - 8:45 p.m. March 10, 1977
An adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Chula Vista, California
was held on the above date at 8:45 p.m. immediately after the Redevelopment Agency meeting
in the Council Chambers, City Hall, 276 Fourth Avenue with the following
Councilmen present: Mayor Scott, Councilmen Hyde, Cox, Egdahl, Hobel
Councilmen absent: None
Staff present: City Manager Cole, Director of Public Works Robens
LOCATION OF COUNCIL OFFICES Director of Public Works Robens submitted proposals for
the location of the Council offices with the renovation
of City Hall. Mr. Robens noted that with Public Works,
Planning and Finance vacating their offices in the City
Hall, the Council has the option of relocating their
offices in any one of these locations.
Mr. Robens presented sketches showing the Council offices
in the present Finance Department and various alternatives
of rearranging the Council office in its present quarters.
Alternatives One alternative was for removal of the vault and expanding
the Mayor's office, relocating the Conference Room to the
present Council office, expanding the Secretary and re-
ception area to that now occupied by the City Clerk and
placing the Council offices in the existing Conference
Room. A second alternative was similar but did not
remove the vault.
Cost of project In answer to Council's questions, Mr. Robens stated the
removal of the vault could not be done with City forces
and would cost approximately $3,000. With the removal
and replacement of the walls in the office, the biggest
expense would be for new carpeting.
Council discussion Councilman Egdahl discussed favorably the removal of the
vault and putting in a window in the west wall.
Mr. Roberts remarked that the actual layout of the office
would be discussed individually with the Council by the
interior designer.
Motion to remain in It was moved by Councilman Hobel, seconded by Councilman
present location Egdahl and unanimously carried that the Council retain
its present area and disregard talking about moving to
the Finance office.
W3~SHINGTON CONFERENCE REPORT Mayor Scott stated that he and Councilman Cox returned
from the National League of Cities in Washington last
night and will make a report to the CouncJ 1 in the near
future.
ADJOURNMENT Mayor Scott adjourned the meeting at 9:06 p.m. to the next
regular scheduled meeting of March 15, 1977.
