HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1984-11551 Revised 2/23/84 RESOLUTION NO. 11551 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA APPROVING EXTENSION OF THE PARAMEDIC SERVICE CONTRACT AND RATE SCHEDULE AMENDMENT FOR MEDTRANS (DBA HARTSON'S AMBULANCE SERVICE) The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby resolve as follows: WHEREAS, the present two-year paramedic service contract with MedTrans (dba Hartson's Ambulance Service) terminated on December 8, 1983, and WHEREAS, it is the intention of staff to go out to bid before entering into a new contract for paramedic service, and WHEREAS, it is staff's recommendation that we extend the current contract for the interim period before a new contract can be awarded, and WHEREAS, due to recent changes in Medicare reimbursement policies, it is no longer possible for hospitals to bill Medicare for supplies used in paramedic care, and WHEREAS, the paramedic agencies will now have to bill for the cost of these supplies, and WHEREAS, Hartson's is requesting an amendment in the fee schedule that would allow them to charge cost plus 77% for disposable supplies and drugs administered to patients during prehospital paramedic care. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby approve the amended agreement attached as Exhibit "A" which extends the contract for paramedic service to September 8, 1984. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council does hereby approve the amendment to the agreement which authorizes the increase in the fee schedule that would allow Hartson's to charge cost plus 77% for disposable drugs and supplies that are administered to patients during prehospital paramedic care. 'ED ( seal) City Clerk -660 SECOND AMENDMENT TO FIRST AMENDED AGREEMENT TO PROVIDE PARAMEDIC SERVICES TO THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA AND SPECIFIED ADJACENT AREAS THIS AMENrMENT, is made and entered into this 28th day of February ,1984, by and between THE CITY OF CHUrA VISTA, a municipal corporation, hereinafter called "City/Contractor", and MED-TRANS, a California Limited Partnership, dba Hartson's Ambulance Service, hereinafter called "Sub-Contractor; WIT N E SSE T H : ----------- NOW, THEREFORE, the parties hereto agree that the First Amended Agreement shall be amended only in respect to Paragraphs 1 and 7 thereof to read as follows: 1. Term. The term of the agreement shall be in full force and effect until September 8, 1984. 2. Compensation and Fee Schedule: Sub-Contractor shall be permitted to charge cost plus 77% for disposable supplies and drugs that are administered to patients during prehospital paramedic care.
