RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA
VISTA INITIATING THE "BONITA OPTIMIST CENTER
REORGANIZATION" INVOLVING ANNEXATION OF APPROXIMATELY
15 ACRES OF UNINHABITED TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF CHULA
VISTA, AND CONCURRENT DETACHMENTS FROM THE BONITA-
SUNNYSIDE FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT AND THE SAN DIEGO
COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL DISTRICT-ZONE 3 PURSUANT TO THE
PROVISIONS OF THE DISTRICT REORGANIZATION ACT OF 1965
The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby
resolve as follows:
WHEREAS, the City of Chula Vista desires to initiate a
reorganization of certain territory in the unincorporated area of
the County of San Diego pursuant to the District Reorganization
Act of the Government Code, Division 1, Chapter 2, Article 1,
Section 56140, et seq., and
WHEREAS, the proposed change of organization would
involve the annexation of approximately 15 acres of uninhabited
territory to the City of Chula Vista and concurrent detachments
from the Bonita-Sunnyside Fire Protection District and the San
Diego County Flood Control District-Zone 3, and
WHEREAS. the exterior boundaries of the proposed annexa-
tion are shown on Exhibit A and further described on Exhibit H,
and
WHEREAS, the City shall pay the annexation processing
fees amounting to $1020, and
WHEREAS, as a result of the recent settlement of a
lawsuit involving the County of San Diego and the Otay Valley Road
Redevelopment Project, the City acquired ownership of the subject
area from the County and is now required to maintain the subject
park land and, therefore, annexation of the lands in question to
the City of Chula Vista is appropriate at this time, and
WHEREAS, the subject area is contiguous to the existing
City boundary on three sides and is closed by the adjoining
Sweetwater Road on its northerly side, and
WHEREAS, LAFCO staff has preliminarily reviewed the
sUbject proposal and has determined that it is categorically
exempt from environmental review.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Chula Vista does hereby adopt the resolution of
application initiating the proposed "Bonita Optimist Center
Reorganization" and requests that proceedings be taken for the
proposed reorganization.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor of the City of
Chula Vista is hereby authorized to sign all applicable annexation
application forms for submittal to LAFCO.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the sum of $1020 is hereby
authorized to be expended from Account No. 100-0730-5202 for the
payment of all LAFCO and State Board of Equalization processing
fees.

LEGAL DESCRIPTION - ANNEXATION
BONITA OPTIMIST CENTER REORGANIZATION
A portion of Quarter'Section 47 of "Ranch'o de 1a Nadon in the Cou'nty 01 San
Diego, State of California, according to Map No. 166 filed in the Office of
the County Recorder of said County on May 11, 1869, more -particularly
described as follows:
1. Beginning at the Southwest corner of Quarter Section 57 as shown on Map
No. 5270 (Bonita Verde) recorded in the Office of the County Recorder of
sai d County on September 27, 1963;
2. Thence North 18°14'18" West, along the Westerly line of said Quarter
Section 57, a di stance of 376.34 feet to the Southerly line of Sweetwater
Road (60 ·feet wide) per Road Survey No. 471 on file in the Surveyor's
Office of said County;
3. Th.ence Easterly, along the Southerly 1 i ne of sai d County Road Survey No.
471, to a poi nt on the Easterly 1 i ne of the Westerly 330 feet of sai d
Quarter Section 47, said point also being the True Point of Beginning;
4. Thence South 19°12'44" East along a line to a point distant thereof 793.75
feet Southerly from the centerline of said Road Survey 471;
5. Thence North 59°23'20" East a distance of 318.44 feet;
6. Thence North !f3°34' 20" East to the Easterly 1i ne of the Westerly half of
said Quarter Section 47;
