Home My WebLink AboutReso 1984-11823 RESOLUTION NO. 11823 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA RECITING THE FACT OF THE CONSOLI~TED GENERAL ELECTION HELD ON THE 6th DAY OF NOVEMBER, 1984, DECLARING THE RESULT THEREOF AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS ARE PROVIDED BY LAW The City Council of the City of Chula vista does hereby resolve as follows: WHEREAS, a consolidated general election was conducted in the City of Chula Vista, County of San Diego, State of California, the 6th day of November, 1984, as required by law, and WHEREAS, notice of said election was duly and regularly given in time, form and manner as provided by the law; that voting precincts were properly established; that election officers were appointed and that in all respects said election was held and conducted and the votes cast thereat, received and canvassed and the returns made and declared in time, form and manner as required by the provisions of the Elections Code of the State of California for the holding of elections in cities, and WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 11789, adopted on the 23rd day of October, 1984, the Registrar of Voters canvassed the returns of said election and has certified the results to this City Council, said results are received, attached and made a part hereof as "Exhibit A". NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That there were 72 voting precincts esta- blished for the purpose of holding said election consisting of the regular elections precints in the City of Chula Vista as established for the holding of state and county elections. SECTION 2. That said consolidated general election was conducted for the purpose of submitting the following measures to the electors of said City, to-wit: -1- PROPOSITION E An amendment to the Charter of the City of Chula Vista amending Article VI, Section 600, permitting the City Council to appoint nonresident experts to boards and commissions which are created by the Council and permitting Council-created boards and commissions to act upon a vote of a majority of the quorum as opposed to a majority of the entire membership. PROPOSITION F An amendment to the Charter of the City of Chula Vista amending Article V, Section 500, and Article VII, Section 701, ensuring Civil Service protection for present mid-management level positions. PROPOSITION G An amendment to the Charter of the City of Chula Vista amending Article III, Section 304, establishing the annual salary of the Mayor at $35,000. PROPOSITION H An amendment to the Charter of the City of Chula Vista amending Article III, Section 302 establishing the salary for a Councilmember at $12,000 per year, PROPOSITION J An amendment to the Charter of the City of Chula Vista amending Article III, Section 300 clarifying the term of office of City Council. SECTION 3. That the whole number of votes cast in said City including absent voter ballots was 32,106. SECTION 4. That the propositions voted upon at said election are as set forth hereinabove, and -2- .\¢ ~ That the number of votes given at each precinct for and against the propositions set forth herein are as shown in Exhibit "A", attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference. that: SECTION 5. The City Council does declare and determine That as a result of said election, a majority of the qualified voters voting on Propositions F and J did vote in favor thereof, and that said propositions carried, and shall be deemed adopted and ratified. That as a result of said election, a majority of the qualfied voters voting on propositions E, G and H did note vote in favor thereof, and that said propositions did not carry and shall not be deemed adopted and ratified. SECTION 6. the City Council of election, showing: The City Clerk shall enter on the records of said City, a statement of the results of said (1) The whole number of votes cast in the City; (2) The measures voted upon; (3) The number of votes given at each precinct for and against each measure. SECTION 7. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall enter the same in the book of original Resolutions of said City, and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said City, in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed adopted.
