RESOLUTION NO. 11898
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CHULA VISTA DETERMINING THAT THE DEVELOPMENT OF
THE BAYFRONT TROLLEY STATION WILL BE A BENEFIT TO
THE BAYFRONT REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT AREA
WHEREAS, the City of Chula Vista, in cooperation with the County of
San Diego propose to develop the Bayfront Trolley Staton on the south side of
"E" Street adjacent to and east of the exi sti ng troll ey tracks and 1-5
right-of-way; and
WHEREAS, the City's share of development cost of the Bayfront Trolley
Station will include the use of Redevelpment Agency funds; and
WHEREAS, the provision of the Bayfront Trolley Station will increase
the use of publ i c transportati on by improvi ng coordi nati on between vari ous
transportation modes; and
WHEREAS, the Chula Vi sta Bayfront Stati on wi 11 be an integral and
important component of the Bayfront Redevelopment Project Area transportation
system; and
WHEREAS, the adopted Bayfront Local Coastal Land Use Plan proposes a
variety of commercial and recreational development which will depend, in part,
upon the successful operation of a trolley station at "E" Street; and
WHEREAS, in addi ti on to servi ng the development of the Chul a Vi sta
Bayfront, the Bayfront Trolley Station will also serve existing commercial and
residential development on the East side of 1-5.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Chul a Vi sta hereby determi nes that the development of the Bayfront Troll ey
Station will be a benefit to the Bayfront Redevelopment Project Area.
