11781
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA
VISTA DECLARING OCTOBER 9, 1984 AS "SAN DIEGO PADRE
DAY"
The City Council of the City of Chula vista does hereby
resolve as follows:
WHEREAS, on October 7, 1984, the Padres completed a sweep
of the Chicago Cubs to win the first National League pennant in
the history of the San Diego organization, and
WHEREAS, on October 9, 1984, the Padres hosted the
American League pennant winner, the Detroit Tigers, in the 1984
World Series, and
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the Padres is a source of
pride to all communities throughout the County of San Diego
including the City of Chula Vista, and
WHEREAS, a great number of Chula Vistans have supported
the Padres throughout their history and form a part of the "10th
man" which aided the Padres in their championship drive.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Chula Vista does hereby declare October 9, 1984, the
opening day of the World Series in San Diego, as "San Diego Padre
Day".
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the City of
Chula Vista be, and she is hereby directed to forward a certified
copy of this resolution to the San Diego Padres.
