HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2005-065 RESOLUTION NO. 2005-065 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA ACCEPTING BIDS AND AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR THE SOUTH CHULA VISTA LIBRARY PROJECT (PAINT), IN THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA (PROJECT NO. LBI25), AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE SAID AGREEMENT WHEREAS, on Wednesday, February 2,2005, the Director of General Services received sealed bids for the South Chula Vista Library Project (Paint), in the City of Chula Vista, California (Project No. LBI25); and WHEREAS, the City received four (4) bids from Contractors as follows: CONTRACTOR BID AMOUNT Base Bid 1. Alpha Décor & Painting, Inc. 5392 Barwood Drive $ 94,000 Huntington Beach, CA 92649 2. Tony's Painting P.O. Box 3795 $115,000 Seal Beach, CA 90740 3. US Nation Corp. P.O. Box 4929 $117,100 Panorama Citv, CA 91412 4. Oil Martinez Ptg, Inc. P.O. Box 26998 $149,955 San Diego, CA 92196 WHEREAS, the low bid subnlitted by Alpha Décor & Painting, Inc. is below the project's estimated cost of $130,000 by $36,000; and WHEREAS, staff has verified their license no. 808329 and it is current. In addition, staff has verified the references provided by the Contractor and their work has been satisfactory. Staff recommends awarding the contract to Alpha Décor & Painting, Inc. in the amount of $94,000; and WHEREAS, the Environmental Review Coordinator has reviewed the proposed project for compliance with the Califonlia Environmental Quality Act and has determined that the project qualifies for a Class I categorical exemption pursuant to Section 15301 of the State CEQA Guidelines. Thus, no further environmental review is necessary; and WHEREAS, Contractors bidding this project are not required to pay prevailing wages to persons employed by them for the work under this project. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved the City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby accept bids and award a contract for the "South Chula Vista Library Project (Paint), in the City of Chula Vista, California (Project No. LB 125)"; and Resolution 2005-065 Page 2 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor of the City of Chula Vista is hereby authorized and directed to execute said contracts on behalf of the City of Chula Vista.
