TELEPHONE (619) 691-5047 MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA Tuesday, June 11, 1985 Council Chamber (Following City Council Meeting) Public Services Building ROLL CALL Members present: Chairman Cox, Members Malcolm, McCandliss, Moore Members absent: Member Scott Staff present: Executive Director Goss, City Attorney Harron, Assistant City Manager Asmus REPORT SOUTH COUNTY REGIONAL CENTER INSTRUCTIONS TO TRUSTEE AND FUTURE EXPANSION OF SOUTH COUNTY REGIONAL CENTER Mayor Cox remarked there was a study going on regarding superior Courts for east and south County. There is 1-1/2 million dollars to use to reduce the revenue bonds - this money could be used for funding the Superior Court. In his written report to the Agency, Community Development Director Desrochers explained that the County of San Diego is requesting that the Redevelopment Agency, sponsor of the South County Regional Center lease revenue bonds, instruct the trustee to make a $1,500,000 principal and interest payment out of excess funds now held in a reserve account by the Trustee. In addition, more space is required at the South County Center in order to accommodate a Superior Court function at the site. Mr. Desrochers recommended that the Agency approve the request of the County and inform the County of the City's willingness to assist in the sponsorship of additional lease revenue bonds for the expansion of the South County Regional Center. MSUC (Malcolm/Cox) to accept the report and recommendations Chairman Cox questioned the study now being done regarding the Court complex. Mr. Larry King from the County (CAO - Special Projects) stated they are planning to implement the legislation ---.--.-----..-.--- Redevelopment Agency Meeting - 2 - June 11, 1985 requiring the Superior Court to hold a session in Chula Vista. They are embarking upon a master plan (year 2005) for additional court space at the South Bay Regional Center. Currently under SB365 they are required to have one additional courtroom. They will be going to the Board of Supervisors for approval of this branch court in Chula Vista on June 18, 1985. The will ingness of the Agency to sponsor the revenue bonds will be for remodeling the third floor and additional needed facilities.
